Call for Volunteers - Teacher Training in Sierra Leone

Volunteers are needed to conduct a professional development workshop for teachers in Sierra Leone. Although the country is enjoying peace, the educational infrastructure is still recovering from the devastation of a decade-long civil war. This is your chance to get involved in a very rewarding project! The workshop is scheduled for July 13-17, 2009 in Bo. Drs. Catherine and Richard Frazier are assembling a team of volunteers, and the Friends of Sierra Leone (fosalone.org )and Schools for Salone (schoolsforsalone.org ) are serving as sponsors. Volunteers will be responsible for their own expenses. The Fraziers are both professional educators and were education PCV's in Sierra Leone in the 70's. Since 2005 they have enjoyed working with enthusiastic and appreciative teachers in annual workshops in Makeni. These workshops have focused on integrating local resources with school curriculum.
